Basic informations
We almost forgot to mention all details about our project, originals designers, location etc. We are realy sorry that we are writing this thing which supposed to be between the first posts here. But everyone can make a mistake :)
Original designers and architects are from studio Bevk Perovic Architekti. Original name of the project is Casa SB, and its situated in Ljublana the capital city of Slovenia.
More precisely, the situation of the house is around the subur of Ljublana. Surrounding area is mostly created by other single family houses constructed in the 1960's, with low architectural value and mostly without permision or license. That was the main impulse to create the house as a mediator between chaotic and anonymous suburbia and surrounding nature.
The plot is quite small, just 500 squaremeters, on the edge of settlement and facing the forest from the northern side. The house is a standard, patio-type house formed by two wings splited into 2 levels, which define the boundary for the garden area. The lift of one of the wings allow to park the cars under it and also the shape of the building eliminate the needs of creating a fence arround the property.
From the disposition point of view, the stereotypical split of the night area (sleeping) and day area (living) is reversed and the bedrooms for the family are situated on the groundfloor, which also consist of bathrooms. All atre formed as small cells, but when it is needed, they can be joined together by the using of sliding and folding panels, which can be seen in japanese architecture. The main reason of situating the living area on the 2nd floor was to allow the sweeping panoramatic view of the nearest forest. The glass windows also limiting the views of surrounding housing.
Typologicaly it can be classified as open, loft-type space, The livingroom becomes the mediating device, like a periscope. From the material point of view, whole house is clad in wood (vertical planks), which also covers pitched roof and the terrace - sun deck.
Renders output
In pictures above you can see renders which we created. 2 from exterior and one interior. The rendering time was quite long and also depended from the view, but we wanted better quality so we set all the render parameter and the resolution of images for the maximum. And now you can better imagine the whole house and it connection to exterior and surrounding.
After finished renders we made our last layout for presentation of 3d model. The creation of layout was the same like in 2d. In picture below you can see the result of our work.
Rendering time
After we finished with the modeling process, we started with creating the cameras for the viewports in presentations as for renders. After it we started with adding textures and materials to our model from AutoCAD library. It is good to always work and remember that for each different material and texture, you will need new layer, because it will make the material editing process realy easy and quick. After few clicks we added all the materials to all layers, setted the views, sun, background and started rendering.
In this snapshot you can already see the added amterials and also created cameras for the final viewports and renders.
Proces of 3D modeling
We have already finished our 3D model and here some quick overview of our progress from beginning. We started basicaly from extruding all the existing construction as perimeter walls, inner walls which we had made in 2Dplans into the 3rd dimension and so created outher shell of the whole house with inner partitions. Then we filled all the opening created doors and windows, floors, ceilings and roofs.
In pictures above you can see a snapshot of the model of the house, with all openings, perimeter and inner walls, roofs. In first one is the model displayed in wireframe mode, so you can see also hidden geometry and in second is in hidden mode, where you can get more real image of the final view from outside.
After modelining of the whole volume of the building we decided to model also the surrounding terrain around our house. We created outside walls, grass, terrain part covered with gravel, and also parking places under the volume of upper floor made in concrete.
Now you can see how messy get thing if you continue adding more volumes and still work in wireframe mode. But if you will work a lot you will get use to it but it still shows also hidden geometry so you can train your perspective imagination. For the better display of work progres you can see the shaded mode in second pic.
For the final part of modeling we added all the furniture, which will be visible later in our renders. Its important to do as much details as possible, because after when you will render the image, then more detail you will have, it will also looks more realistic in render. All the furniture was modeled from informations which we get from already drawed plans and photos from original project.
In these last pictures you can see the final model which we created. In this point I also get sometimes lost in the drawing in wireframe mode, so I started to switching to other modes more frequently. Like in previous cases in the second one is shaded one so you can see the final model, ready for few last editings and renderings.
Back to views and sections
In the pictures above you can see drawed elevations and sections, which we fortog to upload here till now. Basicly in creation of sections the main source of information are floorplans, as in this case, but we combined them together with informations and underlays of original project in PDF format. In the end sections are linked to all floor plans, they need to have same distances, heights of objects and placements of constructions (walls, columns etc.), furniture and other stuffs. The main source for creating elevations are then sectionsbecause the whole wolume of building in elevations have to correspond with that in sections, in the end those are plans of the same building. But also in this case we helped ourselves with image underlays because this is already constructed house, so all images could be used as a pattern. In the sections we can see also the counstructions of building and how the terraing goes through the whole site, which we miss in the elevations, where we get the image of all views on building from outside from all sides.

Final sheets!!!
So here you can see our final sheets ready for printing... Following the site plan, floor plans, elevations and sections... All of the drawing include attributed texts, references, pdf or jpg underlays, blocks (in some cases also dynamic blocks) , texts and annotations etc. The whole presentation in each sheet was created in layout window

Now we definitely finished the basic 2D drawing and before us a bigger challange - modeling in 3D. We just started with the basics such as modeling walls and opening, so be prepared for the posts with our progress in work with 3D with pictures!!!
